Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as vibe all its own. It’s very much modern-day Southern Rock because it’s not like the Pop Country you hear on everyday radio. It’s more Rock Country, which perfectly captures who I am as an artist!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Some of my biggest influences would be the Cadillac Three, Miranda Lambert, Gretchen Wilson and Motley Crue.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Voodoo.”

A) My new song “Voodoo” was actually written by the phenomenally talented Clare Dunn. She’s such a badass performer and songwriter and I just fell in love with the whole idea and concept behind the song the first time it was played for me.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think the song can take you to another place and make you feel like the best version of yourself. I feel as though it makes people feel confident about themselves. Overall, it’s just a great song to turn up loudly in your car, roll the windows down and jam out.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Personally, when I’ve written songs in the past, I usually always do more of the lyrics side and have a co-writer play the instrumental portion.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) In this project in particular I had a very large part in the whole production process with my incredible producer Sal Oliveri. He really listened to me as an artist – as to who I specifically wanted to sound like.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Abbi Scott performance?

A) Fans can expect a high energy, intimate performance! I’ve always said that my fans spend their hard-earned paychecks on my performances and I want to give them one hell of a show! They can always expect a lot of crowd interaction, loud instruments and lots of “rock-on” fists in the air.

Q) What songs off your “This. Is. Me.” EP are you looking forward to performing live?

A) Truly…all of them! I love this EP more than anything I’ve ever put out in the world and I really look forward to singing each song out live!

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your new EP as a whole?

A) I hope listeners can take an escape with my new EP. I want people to be able to forget their everyday responsibilities and stress and just be able to let loose and jam out to my record. I want it to bring out happiness in the listeners and also just appreciate the diversity in country music.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I’ve always loved a good hometown gig anywhere in the state of Indiana. I love how supportive the crowds always are and I really love to hear someone say, “That’s our girl…She’s a Hoosier!” But I’ve honestly never played a bad gig. They’ve always been great experiences!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would absolutely love to write a song with Brandy Clark. She’s been one of my favorite songwriters for many years and I think it’d be an incredible write!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’m so incredibly obsessed with Tyler Childers right now! I love his spin on modern day bluegrass music. I think he is really carving his own path and writing true, down-home bluegrass music that I just can’t seem to get enough of!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) This new age and culture that we live in with social media – it’s imperative to connect with your fans. This is one outlet that brings us all together and really just makes us one big family. Without social media I wouldn’t have met all my amazing fans!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would like everyone to know how much I appreciate them day in and day out. Not only for supporting my crazy musical dreams, but for supporting me as a human being in life. I just can’t thank my fans enough for being so supportive and how much I love every one of them.
